Grey Weathered Deck Stained Redwood in Mississauga
A backyard deck in Mississauga with wood railings, square pickets and solar post caps, its unprotected boards weathered to grey. We refinished the deck boards and railings in a rich redwood cedar-tone stain.

The deck: grey, weathered and unprotected
This backyard deck in Mississauga has a step-down section, wood railings with square pickets and solar post-cap lights. Its finish had worn off long ago, and years of sun and rain had turned the boards grey, with dark weathering, checking and splits along the grain. The railings had faded unevenly, and the bare wood was soaking up water every time it rained.
Preparing the wood
Before staining, the deck boards and railings were prepared so the stain could soak evenly into clean, sound wood, removing the grey weathered layer and loose fibres.
Redwood cedar-tone stain
We stained the deck boards, railing caps, rails, posts and pickets in a rich redwood cedar-tone stain. The warm red colour brings out the grain and knots and gives the whole deck one even, rich look against the green yard and the grey fence.
The result
A deck that looks cared for again, with wood that is protected from water and sun and a finish that only needs a wash and a maintenance coat every few years.
