Modern Black Deck Stain in Scarborough
A raised deck behind a modern Scarborough home, with a staircase down to the yard and wood railings with square pickets. We sanded the deck, stairs and railings, then stained everything black to match the home's black window frames and trim.
The deck: a raised deck with stairs and wood railings
This raised deck sits off the back of a modern brick home in Scarborough, with an angled corner, a staircase down to the yard and wood railings with square pickets all around. The owners wanted the deck to match the house: black window frames, black trim and a dark fence.
Sanding the deck, stairs and railings
We sanded the deck boards, stair treads, handrails, railing caps and pickets with dust-extraction sanders, leaving smooth, clean wood that takes stain evenly, as the sanding photo shows.
Black deck stain
We then stained the whole structure black: every deck board, the stairs, the posts, handrails and all the pickets. A black deck is one of the most requested modern looks, and here it ties the deck to the window frames, the trim and the fence, so the backyard reads as one design.
The result
A sleek, modern black deck and staircase that looks built for the house, with protected wood and an even finish from top to bottom.
